ATTENTION -- SCAM ALERT

DEMCO is warning its members about a scam perpetrated by people posing as representatives of a government agency charged with assisting residents in paying their utility bills.  Scammers are asking consumers for an electricity bill and a small processing fee.  Some customers are also being asked to supply financial information and/or social security numbers.  THIS IS A SCAM.  DO NOT give any sensitive information away whether by telephone, email or door-to-door solicitors.
